Welcome

Week of November 13th –  November 16th

Dear Second Grade Families,

We hope you you have a wonderful 3-day weekend celebrating Veterans Day! We will see students back to school on Tuesday. We have a fun-filled week ahead of us before we enjoy the Thanksgiving Break. A few notes for the upcoming week:

  • On Tuesday students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue to remember our veterans.
  • Friday is our “Thanksgiving Feast”. We will pair up with our 4th grade buddies at 12:45 to celebrate Thanksgiving with food, games, and more! Lunch will be provided. You do not need to pack your child a lunch on this day.

This week in Language Arts students will be reading, writing, speaking, and listening about Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving. Please have your child read at home every day. Audiobooks are also a great way to help students enjoy listening to books. Here is a link for students to listen and watch books being read.  https://www.storylineonline.net/library/

In Math students students will review Topic 5, “Subtract Within 100 Using Strategies.” They will be assessed on all they’ve learned on Wednesday.

In Social Studies students are learning about Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving.

In Science we will be diving into a new unit about the Earth’s resources. Students will various types of rocks to discover “What makes up rocks?”
